Here's a fun experiment. I wanted to play around with what is often called Z-depth. I found this background on the internet, then I used a cool website called ZoeDepth to generate that black and white depth map. The grey values represent how far an object is, from the viewer. Although I had to modify it a bit. Then I created a composition in After Effects to create some kind of layered 3D background.
Then I placed my animation of Ryu in it, along with some basic smoke effect.
The result is not perfect, but it sure is interesting.
I might try that again some time. ✨😁
